COVID-19 Response

During the COVID-19 Lockdown we have been working hard supporting our guests during this difficult time.

At the start of the lockdown with the help of the Waltham Forest Council, we managed to adapt our service very quickly and all of our guests were accommodated in a hotel in Redbridge. Through our caseworker and the generous support of some of our partner churches and the Council, we provided them with daily meals and casework support.

The funding for the hotel accommodation ended in June and since then with the support of the council we have been able to find temporary accommodation for all of our guests. We are so grateful for our caseworker who has been working closely with the guests and relevant partner organisations to help with issues such as immigration, healthcare and housing.

We will continue to do everything we can to keep going with this work, and we are now considering how what the best way to respond going forward in what is still a very changeable situation. We intend on doing everything in our power to make sure that we continue to find some way to respond to the emergency needs of the community safely.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those who have offered to help in many different ways. In the coming weeks we will have a clearer view of what our volunteer and funding needs will be, and may be putting out a call for specific skills.
